Well everyone we survived Ike. It was rainy and windy here in College Station, but that is about it. Both of our families are safe. Morgan's family is from the Angleton area and Justin's family is from the Texas City area. Both our families have no power in their homes, and there are some minor damages to the houses. Morgan's Aunt Jackie and cousin Austin came to stay with us to flee hurricane Ike. They headed home this morning to start their clean up.
Morgan's family in Angleton is slowly starting to regain some power, but not everyone is. Her Dad's home is still without power, but they have a generator so her dad is making it, although he said gas is starting to run out. Mimi, great grandmere, and great great grandmother went to stay in Kerrville with some family. T Pa stayed in Angleton, and Gigi and Aunt Taylor went to Brenham. Uncle Hunter was safe with his dad in San Antonio. My uncle Darwin and granddaddy stayed in Angleton and rode out the storm. They are fine and have regained power. Everyone is starting to head home tomorrow to assess the damages and start the clean up. Mimi said her frig is going to be nasty!!
Justin's family Nana and Uncle Michael stayed in town, but went over to Santa Fe to stay with Memaw, Papaw, Uncle Kevin, Aunt Becky, and Tyndall. They were located right where the eye of the hurricane went through. They lost power, but are fine. They received some damage to everyone's homes, but everyone is safe. The damages are minor and can be repaired easily. They are still without power, but they have a generator and have plenty of supplies. We checked in with them today and they said they have plenty of water and food. We are hoping they will regain power soon.
On a sad note, our wedding will have to be rescheduled and new location decided. As some of you knew Justin and I were planning a very small intimate family wedding on October 11 at a beach house in Surfside. Our family friends who were letting us use their gorgeous beach house have been unable to go down there to assess the damages, but from the news we are expecting the worst.
We are so thankful that our families are safe and that damages can be easily repaired. We pray for everyone who experienced Ike and we hope that they remained safe. We will keep everyone posted on everything.
P.S. We are hoping to have new pictures up in our albums soon!! I'll let you know when we do.
